June: Dead Season

OMG! No OPAMs in June!!!!!

But these two kitty ladies are desperately needing something for the next Saturday. They'll meet their new friends then and they would like to bring along something nice. I proposed I could sew a blanket for the picnic. Then I could use these blocks...

BUT I must hurry, because Saturday morning is SOOOOON!!!!! AND it's damn too hot - for a change! So the sewing mood is very low at this moment...

Besides this working week has been nearly disaster (doing the work of two people, small crash - my fault, angry phone calls -typical in this profession etc.).... and our darling old sporty Bernina got ill last weekend. I must carry it to the 'doctor'... a SIGH! How much it'll cost... and entire bunch of other smaller happenings, which were not so happy either...
Sometimes it feels that nothing goes right in this foolish life!!!!!
 SO...
today I don't even want to talk or think about Fixed stars in past June. There was mainly dissappointments.
And because I want to avoid more frustration in a future
--- otherwise I'll go grazy ---
I decided not to set or search for any Fixed stars in July!!!
  AND...
... to getting better ending to this story...
I'm showing you the latest SBS blocks

Atleast I was able to keep one of the goals in June... a SIGH again!!!

See you... in a more cheerful mood;))

Mystery Begins...

I have waited for a long time...
 to use these yummy fabrics...

and the beginning of this mystery

I waited more eager, when I saw pretty Sweet peas popping up here and there over blogland. Today it's (finally) my turn to show you the block one of Designer Mystery BOM: Sweet pea. The BOMprogram is from June 2011 to May 2012. Fat quarter Shop is promising me a very spectacular flower garden filled with blooms and blossoms for the next summer;)
I only hope I can keep my part of that promise... :o)
Maybe I can trust me this time, because probably all the blocks are easy and quick to make... although I'm planning to make them smaller than 12" (I don't like BIG flowers)... so there is a minute possibility that I won't have a gorgeous flowergarden...

Our family has got three new members in this month...
one boy and two girls (= twins)...

... so I'm looking after some quick projects to make...
... and I can't forget these knitted toys... after I saw them...

... I'm now 'seriously' planning to knit a puppy. I'm not sure how it'll succeed, because I must use different kind of yarn... It's very difficult to find Sirdar Snuggly Snowflakes at the local craftshops...

The yarn, which I'm going to use doesn't look like terry cloth... so it might only be an experiment... again...
What else I have done in this week....

I finished the next block of Tis The Season -quilt. (Sorry, the photo is lousy!) I have now sewed one row together... and stitched eight blocks, only four left...

... before I continue to spend Saturday night with Inspector Barnaby...

I show you this week's SBS block:

H-2 Wedding Ring 2

:) one more closer to the end...

I'm happy you stayed a while with me!
HAVE a LOVELY weekend!!!

NO Life Without... a Fan

Last week... it was quiet in our sewing room...

It was and still is...
all too HOT weather to be inside... and sew and iron with steam... especially in the evenings after sultry working day...

Fortunately someone has invented a FAN... and I decided to buy it! ... although now I'm in a trouble and I have to uncover this:

it's only laziness, if I say,  it's too hot to sew;)
But I'm allowed to be lazy... atleast sometimes... am I???

As I told earlier I haven't done much in this week...
... just prepared the next block for My Whimsical Garden...

... and this morning... I sewed TWO blocks for Sylvia's Bridal Sampler...

Blocks were M-4 Jack in the Box and L-4 Bride's Bouquet.
All ten blocks for the M -row are now ready... totally it's my third finished row for SBS...
and there is ONLY 25 blocks left...
And a lot of work with sashings ahead....
Shall I use white, cream or darker fabric???... Have you any ideas????

After all finishing the top of the SBS is a good goal for the next year;)
But before that there is other tales to tell

... I'm happy you had a time to visit... and read...

Here we are

Waiting for COOLer WEEk...

CWD: Troops Arriving

Delightful Sunday to every one...

... here's first greeting from My Whimsical Garden!

It's pattern from PIECE O' CAKE DESIGNS.

But now to the time of Civil War in America...

June 5, 1861 Hannah Walton Sanders wrote in her diary

A beautiful day. Planted sunflowers seed in the Island. Planted tomatoes, also wrote to Kitty. Heard that a great many of Lincoln's troops coming up the Kanhaway to get possession of the road. I don't believe it. (quote from Civil War Diary Quilt written by R. Youngs)

Block 30. Troops Arriving

I wasn't thinking too much, while I sewed this block... If you look closer, you'll find a little stupid mistake there on one pink stripe. But I won't redo it, because I have only one tiny piece of pink fabric left. So I must now think that fault is only spice of my Q - life;)

I'm happy you joined and read this tale;)

HAVE A LOVELY WEEK!!!

Fixed Stars for June

Before I tell you about my plans for June... let's recall some happenings in May...
if I don't fall asleep before the end of this tale... today's warm summerweather softened me;)

In addition to only one CWD block I sewed ONLY two more SBS bocks
1. M-2 Wild Goose Chase
2. B-4 Children's Delight
AND
3. - 4. Two blocks for Tis the Season quilt
Total quantity of blocks was dissappointment. I wish I would have had time to catch up 1880's Sampler, but it never happened...

We really infatuated with the yarns... sometimes Fenix was more grazy than I...
only I didn't finished any crocheted or knitted project...
That was not so big dissappointment, because the most of the yarn things were examples for the school...

I did spend some time with hexagons... I think you still remember the Vintage cushion for my brother.
The result: acceptable;)

The last recollection of May IS A BIG, HUGE dissappointment. You might be already bored, when I repeat this one thing month after month, BUT..
THE PINK rosy bag belongs to my plans for June.

Now I just leave May behind and step into the spirit of June...

1. Relax and enjoy the summer and of course Do something pinky;)
2. Sew blocks - TIS, CWD, SBS, maybe 1880's Sampler.
3. Applique blocks.
4. Continue madness with the yarns.
5. Don't forget the hexagons!
If there happens to be more than one OPAM in June, they might all counted as Shooting Stars;)
Let's see what will happen...
