Someone, please, lock the door...

of the sewing room;)
WHY?
because I can't stay out of there!
Today I should have done the folder of one course and crochet hexagons...
but instead I found myself sewing more blocks!

Today I "finally" sewed these two 1800's Sampler blocks. Those tiny pieces have been on the edge of the shelf two months. I think it's quite reasonable to piece them together before they'll vanish... (Ok, I admit that's very poor pretext to avoid doing homeworks... also being at the computer and write - are too pretexts. Shame on me...)

Now I have 17 blocks. They are 5 1/2", but sewing them is easy with Cheryl's instructions

Then I sewed one more row for Honeycomb - Le Petit project in this month -

But what happened? It's wonky as...

Ok... this must be a sign... You must do something else today, Satu!

Well,... where are the all sample pieces for the folder? Let's do it then...

Are they in this box?
No, they are not... BUT there is interesting, small fabric pieces;)))

Maybe I just take few and sew together...

Oj... this is FUN!

 ...so relaxing... while waiting Sunday!!!!

Or did I forget something :o)

Relaxing Sunday
   to you all!!!

PS. Kiitos varaosaliike vinkistä;) Mutta BerninaSporttini ehti jo lähteä maahantuojan museoon... eli ehkä varaosiksi... Toivottavasti B. Aurora on yhtä kestävä...

Block -mania...

... is growing...
when the last blocks of Sylvia's Bridal Sampler are near.
My pace has been approximately one (or less) block in a week, since I started 12th of November, 2008. Now the end is so close, that I just can't sew only one block...

This week's blocks:
1. G-2 Oklahoma Dogwood
2. K-6 Gentleman's Fancy
3. N-1 Courthouse Steps

There is twelve grayish (= undone) blocks... one block per week means all will be finished in the middle of November 2011!
So it took three years... Is it too many?

On Tuesday a kind postman brought a nice letter from USA, while I was at the school. There was the fabrics and pattern for the third block of Designer Mystery 2011 in the envelope.

Today I had a shorter schoolday... and time to sew...
"PRETTY PANSY"
Sorry, the block is not well pressed...
because my little assistant occupied the main part of our ironing board. So it was quite impossible to press 12" block well...

In the middle of this blockmania
I have to seek my crocheting mojo...
Maybe I'll find it tomorrow;)

PRETTY WEEKEND
- I'm glad you stayed here a while...

PS: I had to say farewell to my old and loyal SportBernina, which was my sewingmate 26 years. She was at the doctor, who said there is nothing he can do. Her motor was totally broken and she is so old, that there is no more spare parts for her :(

Twisters in the Rosegarden

On Saturday afternoon Fenix was very focused on something...

 ... what was so interesting?

His head was twisting and swirling around... and I was afraid he might jump over the railing...

... but then he calmed down and just sat and stared at one spot... a sun flower...

...there was this beautiful butterfly...

in finnish it's called Amiraali,
in latin Vanessa atalanta ,
Red Admiral in english

I took Fenix on my arms and told to leave it alone... so together we enjoyed this gorgeous visitor on our balcony... and the red admiral seemed to enjoy these 'Teddy Bear' sun flowers!

A twisting continued on Sunday... this time in the sewing room, where I used the Twister ruler...
for the backgrounds of these rosy pot holders.
It's the first OPAM in two months... VAU!

Today we have missed the butterfly
- it's cloudy, windy and cooler day -
so it's obvious, it won't come today!
Somehow it feels sad, because the summer is slightly turning to the autumn
- although I do love and already wait the crispy weather of autumn -
BUT
tomorrow it's time to go back to school!
AND
I'm bit nervous, because I haven't yet finished those school projects, which I was supposed to finish during this summer... Luckily (?) there is still some time to the next spring, when the all courses will be over...
But it's nice to see the schoolmates and to hear what they have done in this summer;)

HAPPY SEWING week to YOU!!!

More SBS News...

  HAPPYHello again!
We have had so much fun in sewing room... if you stay a while and scroll ahead you'll know, what we have dealt with...

Actually Fenix is not laughing in this photo, but he is finishing his loooong yarn, while he was sorting those fabric triangles. Anyway I think he looks very happy;)

After King's Star and all the positive comments, I sewed four more SBS blocks. Now, if I'll sew one block in a week, all the rest of the blocks are sewed by the beginning of December;) There is ONLY 15 blocks ahead... (I'm happy dancing here ----)

One thing, which spurs me on is that I have finally found a nice sashing fabric. I'll add the cornerstones too - Thanks Anne Ida, for the idea you gave me;)
I ended up to use the darker (grayish purple) fabric.

The other very spuring thing is that there is more and more areas where all the surrounding blocks are done. The picture is from the upper left corner of the quilt... (the whole quilt is on the sidebar)
I also took a 'huge dancing' step with the Tis the Season quilt,
all the block are stitched and pieced together.
Now I'm planning the borders...

...and dancing more happily;)))

For a long time I have wanted to sew these Short Story blocks. Short story is one of the quilts, which is designed by Carrie Nelson. And the pattern is in her 'Schnibbles Times Two' book.

Those tiny 1" blocks are pieced from the left overs of one Short Story block. Am I too stingy 'dancer'? I just couldn't discard them... they also turned out so cute...

Before the third block of the Designer Mystery BOM is arriving I did the second block.
(I'm dancing in the rai...happiness;)))

It's designed by Pam Buda and called "Promise of Spring". Every time I'm dealing with those beautiful Strawberry Fields fabrics, it feels like I'm in a sewing heaven... or something...

Maybe I have overdosed with Q -vitamin... because my words are becoming more and more peculiar... but there is one thing...

My mother asked me to create something for her friend, who is celebrating her 80's soon. The cross-stitched pink rose is stitched by my mom.
In the end
I'm happy (dancing again) that I have inherited some of her genes;)))

Till next time...
Happy dancingStitches to you all!!!

PS. Christelle: I only know few quiltshops in Finland. They are all here in south part of F. I can post you some address, if you like, but I don't know your email...

It's a B......

This is a tale of sewing the 121st block of SBS...
 only 19 left;)

The pieces of King's Stars have been strolling on the cutting board for three weeks now...
It's a tricky block! There is short concave / convex seams and Y-seams. First I tried to machine piece concave / convex seams, but it was hopeless. Then I had no other choice than piece them by hand... and because I had cutted the pieces badly, I met some big troubles even by hand. The points of the star are all different size and shape...

KRR! I have a hunch that this block will not be ... purfect!

I started  with the Y-seams bravely. But as long as time went by... also I started to feel more and more uncomfortable with the block. Especially the shape of the circle horrified me...

... as it horrified Fenix too...

You are just overacting, Fenix.
You can look now!
Maybe the H-10 is not so baaaaad....

I admit, you are right!

But I also know there is 139 other blocks in this quilt...
and I'm quite sure no one ever see that it's not purRfect, my dear Fenix!

And the main thing is
it's a BLOCK,
which also means I have found my sewing mojo;)

Happy Sewing Week to you all!!!!
Hopefully you enjoyed our short tale!

PS. We are really happy that we got new readers with comments. KIITOS;) PrettyMade, Teje & Elbichillo.

Short Vacation... and WIRSPs

 OOOh, VACATION!!!!
... while Fenix is relaxing on the windowsill
I'll tell you my one day-off ...

I did a trip around surrounding areas with my mom last Thursday.
Mainly we drove along the narrow and winding roads through the finnish countryside. We stopped for the lunch in Ruotsinpyhtää. There is beautiful old buildings in where the local artisans are selling their products.
And we ended our trip at my brother's place in Loviisa. He has horses, dogs and cats; such an animal lover;)

  here's the 'souvenirs'

new Novita yarn called 'Noki'
small pillow filled with grains...
(It's good when you have aching shoulder or neck. Then you can heat or freeze it and put on the aching spot.)
and a beach ball for Fenix

I haven't still found my sewing mojo...
although it's cooler and I have some day-offs.
A sad thing... but I'm positive... it'll come back on some day...
and then I'll sew blocks, blocks and blocks;)

On Friday / Saturday I spent time with these Works in Really Slow Pace...
tiny cross-stitches for the Lily of the Valley Fairy
hexagons for two quilts
appliqued pieces for the Night before Christmas

And TODAY

after few hours cross-stitching...

Is there any visible progress? Oh... and my neck is really stiff already...
I think I'm gonna freeze the grainpillow... taste some rose wine... and relax at the sunny balcony..
So...
Wake up now Fenix!!!!

Sunday Greetings ;)
from here to all of you there...
