Lazy Days in June

= I have only one finished project in June.

I'm still crocheting the lace for 'Gentle Art'...
(May's Vintage Schnibbles)

I'm still searching for a nice backing fabric for 'Dulcinea'...

... and I'm looking forward to see all finished 'Dulcinea' -schnibbles in parade tomorrow, 1st of July.
I'm also very keen on to know, what are we doing in July...

... hopefully it will be 'Plan C'.
I have for a long time dreamed of to sew it.
And I have spared some layer cake pieces of pb&j for it...

Happy first week of July!

PS. Because the blogger's reader is no more available after June I have decided to use blogvlovin' to follow my favorite blogs!

"She's Doing it Again!...

... I mean...
Satu is tinkering again... this time with tiny fabric pieces!
I really wonder what she is now doing?

Just in case...
I HAVE to take care of that she does not  loose any of them."

Don't worry, Fenix!
I got A splendid IDEA!
I'm going to make more windmill blocks for the outer border of Dulcinea
...at least 16!
And I will make them in smaller size, 3" x 3"... and I'm going to use this Riley Blake's Mint Grunge fabric as a background instead of cream...

... Yes! That looks nice;o)
...
La-la-laa... the sewing of these windmill blocks is more than fantastic!
I hardly can't wait to see them in their place...
...

Damn! I don't like what I'm seeing here!

What shall I do now?
I have 16 small windmill blocks...
hmm... at least I have now stuff ready for a mini-Dulcinea...

... and not enough Celebrate Spring! charms for the pieced outer border!

OMG! Satu, I feel faint!

Can't you remember that Carrie wrote in her pattern the outer border can be optional!

Yes, I remember, but I WANT the outer border... and preferably pieced one!
Think, Satu, think!!!

Well, here's the result of my thinking!
Only four windmill blocks, one in each corner and strip-pieced border. The strips are 1 1/2" x 3 ".

Ok, this will be good enough!

What do you think, Fenix?
Shall we post this version of Dulcinea to our patchwork friends, Sinta Renee and Sherri for their Vintage Schnibbles parade?

Purr.... maybe this is good purr-enough!!!

And maybe we should mention the size is about 36" x 36"... little bit larger than Carrie's original. Carrie's windmills are 6" x 6" finished, mine are 7" x 7".
Now I'm searching for a nice backing fabric... I wish I could find one with ladybugs...

WE Wish YOU a FANtastic Summer WEek!!!

Pincushion height is about 8 cm,
the bottom square is about 9 cm x 9 cm.

Happy Weekend to you!!!

Every Little Thing She Does...

... is Magic!

The Aurifil's Designer of June is Wencke Wolff Hatling from Norway. Police's song was her inspiration to design block called 'Magic Star'.

I was also trying to make some magic by choosing a rare gem for my block's color...
... may I introduce to you
an alexandrite.

Alexandrite is one of the rarest jewel stones. It's specialty is that it can change the color from red to green depending on the available light source. In natural light alexandrite is blue-green, in candle light it's raspberry red. So it's kind of magic stone... Somewhere I read that it increases the capacity to experience the joy in life. And if you hold it close to your heart, it calls love by your side...

Here's all my gem (Aurifil) blocks together...

1. Emerald, 2. Ruby, 3. Amethyst, 4. Yellow diamond, 5. Peridot and 6. Alexandrite
Hmmm... Are they too tame?

Anyway it was fun to make little sewing thing after a break...

I wish you a little magic to your week!

Summertime....

... my enthusiasm for the crafts always fall when the temperature rises.
Of course, summer work has it's own impact on it too...
Normally I work, when the other people spend their vacations ;o)
which is one really negative aspect of the profession, when you are a garden worker, but...
... fortunately, I no longer need to travel far to be able to enjoy the palm trees and...

... Sahara!
Jotkut lukijani muistanevat / tietänevät, että Kairo meillä täällä Kotkassa jo onkin ;o)

So daily work and this EARLY ? hot summer weather have caused that I have no much to tell about...

Although 'Gentle Art' (May's Vintage Schnibbles) is quilted, the binding is still unfinished.

The lace, which I'm crocheting is now so long that it is enough to two edges of the cloth.
Blaah! I'm sweating!

In Stitch - A - long -group we have a small (summer light) project in June.

It's Little House -pincushion from Natalie Bird's Red Home book.
Hexagons and tiny appliques and stitchings are perfect to take along outside, when it's all too hot to sit inside...

Now it's too hot to drink a cup of hot tea...
... but I want to show you...

... the finished butterfly, pattern by Arne&Carlos.

The pattern and the result was so fun that I would like to do many other butterflies... if I had only time...
By the way it was a present for one special lady and I've heard she liked it;o)

But now the lace is calling me...

I wish you a relaxing Sunday!
